Collagen+ | with Vitamin C by Essensey is a dietary supplement containing collagen hydrolysate and vitamin C. Collagen constitutes approximately 30% of the body’s protein mass and plays an essential role in the structure of various types of tissues, giving rigidity and integrity to bones and skin.
Collagen fibers have a triple helical structure. Type I collagen occurs in mammals. Skin contains types I and III collagen, and cartilage contains types II and III collagen. Collagen fibers give these tissues tensile strength.
The extracellular matrix is mainly composed of collagen proteoglycans. The resistance, molecular permeability and hydration of the skin are determined by proteoglycans, which also influence cell behavior or cell-cell interactions.
It can be said that fibroblasts (i.e. the connective tissue cells present in the dermis) are completely dependent on collagen for their function.
